Department: Health Care and Public Law - London and Southampton
Location: London
Description
Join DACB's top-ranked Health, Care and Public Law Team, advising NHS Trusts, private providers, charities, and more on regulatory and advisory matters. Highly rated in Legal 500 and Chambers, our team of experts is highly respected for its breadth of knowledge and exceptional service.
We're seeking an Advocate to handle a caseload centered around advocacy in Coroner’s Court. Associated advice related to CQC and professional regulatory advice will also be required.
The team plays an important role in DACB's broader Health practice, which is widely recognised as the leading strategic, commercial and regulatory legal adviser to the health and social care sector in the UK.
Welcome to a supportive, collaborative environment, with flexibility, career growth, and the chance to work with leading local clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle a predominately inquest-based workload as an advocate with an appropriate level of supervision.
- Act as a point of contact for clients, demonstrating a level of knowledge and skill commensurate with experience.
- Communicate effectively with a broad range of people including clients, regulators, courts and other stakeholders.
- Support marketing and business development activity within the team e.g. attending marketing events and client training.
- Build an awareness of the Firm's other services and development of effective internal and external networks.
- Handle confidential information in line with the firm's data security protocols.
- Exercise full compliance with DAC Beachcroft protocols on billing and credit control and demonstrate a high level of financial management in respect of own files.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
An Advocate with a demonstrable interest or previous experience in this practice area or related practice area. We do not expect candidates to cover the full breadth of work undertaken by the team, but we do require a clear interest in inquest work and enthusiasm to develop skills and knowledge relevant to the work we do.
- An enthusiastic and committed approach to inquest advocacy with a broader interest in our other work areas such as health and social care regulation, mental health law, serious medical treatment, and information governance.
- Advocacy experience is ideal.
- Excellent relationship and client handling skills. Able to deal confidently and professionally with clients on day to day issues.
- Highly motivated, sharing our commitment to providing excellent service to our clients.
- An ability to adopt a commercial perspective rather than an ‘academic’ approach to legal issues.
- Team oriented with a willingness to share knowledge with and support other members of the team.
This is an opportunity for someone looking to join a successful and expanding team in an exciting and developing sector, within a firm with an excellent reputation in the Health and Public sectors nationally and as a great place to work.
