Position: Cleanroom Installation Manager

Reporting to: Projects Director/ Associate Operations Director/Associate Manufacturing Director

Salary: TBC – dependent on experience

Job type: Permanent (subject to a six-month probation period)

Holiday: 31 days including Bank Holidays (three days over Christmas mandatory)

Pension: 6% company contributions

Guardtech are a rapidly growing, thoughtfully evolving design & build company that produce high-quality, tightly controlled manufacturing facilities (cleanrooms) across the country for the Life Science sector for industries such as Pharmaceutical, Aerospace, Automotive & Medical Device. The business is doubling in size year on year and is looking for highly dynamic, positive, driven individuals to join our team and share in our incredibly exciting journey.

The Cleanroom Installation Manager is responsible for the safe, compliant and high-quality delivery of cleanroom installation works on site. The role provides day-to-day leadership of installation activities, co-ordination of subcontractors and assurance that works are delivered in line with programme, specification and company standards.

Key Responsibilities

Health, Safety & Compliance

1. Complete and maintain all site Health & Safety documentation, including weekly site inspections, RAMS briefings, MEWP checks, and statutory records.
2. Lead and deliver site inductions for all operatives and subcontractors, using either client-specific systems or internal Guardtech processes.
3. Ensure full compliance with CDM Regulations, company H&S procedures, and client requirements at all times.
4. Promptly identify, report, and rectify hazardous situations that may impact health & safety, quality, or the environment.
5. Maintain accurate site records, including attendance logs, permits, inspection registers, and site folders.

Site & Installation Management

1. Manage and coordinate the installation of cleanroom systems, including:

• Modular cleanroom wall panels (e.g. Kingspan Precision, Versatile)
• Suspended grid ceilings (e.g. T50, T24 systems)
• Cleanroom doors and glazed systems
• Fan Filter Units (FFUs) (e.g. Astra, TripleAir)
• Cleanroom equipment, furniture, and associated fittings

1. Inspect all deliveries to site, ensuring materials are correct, undamaged, and compliant, with delivery notes filed correctly.
2. Monitor workmanship standards of both direct labour and subcontractors, ensuring installations meet specification and quality expectations.
3. Ensure the site is maintained in a clean, tidy, and controlled condition throughout the installation period.

Resources, Plant & Equipment

1. Take responsibility for company vehicles allocated to the role, ensuring they are maintained, compliant, and kept in a clean condition.
2. Maintain control, security, and condition of all tools and equipment issued to site.
3. Ensure site welfare facilities are secure, serviceable, and adequately stocked, arranging servicing or replenishment as required.

Communication & Reporting

1. Provide regular progress updates and reports to the Project Manager and wider project stakeholders, proportionate to project scale.
2. Attend and contribute to project progress, coordination and review meetings.
3. Maintain clear, effective communication with project teams, clients, subcontractors & internal depts.
4. Provide constructive feedback to Design, Manufacturing, and Operations teams to support continual improvement.

Commissioning & Aftercare

1. Assist with cleanroom commissioning activities during final project stages, including snag resolution and readiness for validation.
2. Support the Service Department with emergency call-outs where reasonably available and competent to do so.

Leadership & Support

1. Provide guidance, supervision, and practical support to installation engineers and other staff as required.
2. Act as a visible leader on site, promoting professionalism, accountability, and high standards of workmanship.

Qualifications & Competency Requirements (Essential / Desirable)

• CSCS Card – Skilled Worker or Supervisor level (Essential)
• SMSTS or SSSTS (Essential for management roles)
• IPAF (3a / 3b) (Essential where MEWPs are used)
• First Aid at Work or Emergency First Aid (Desirable)
• Asbestos Awareness (Essential)
• Manual Handling (Essential)
• Working at Height (Essential)
• Proven experience delivering cleanroom or controlled-environment installations
• Strong understanding of ISO 9001 quality systems and site documentation control
