Job Title: Insurance Operations Analyst
Location: London (Hybrid working, 3 days in office)
Role Purpose:
Aligned to the IUS team to create and deliver an excellent and cost-effective management Information service to Underwriting Services International Insurance Team Heads and other relevant stakeholders in the following areas:
- Build effective analytical products to ensure all regulatory, portfolio, and operational reporting is accurate and delivered within required timelines
- Risk and exposure recording
- Regulatory and compliance reporting
- Strategic reports that drive decisions making processes
- Underwriting Management Information in support of Team meetings and Quarterly Performance Reviews
- Internal cyclical and ad-hoc reporting
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Performance:
- Assist in the preparation of the insurance sector information for key stakeholders, including but not restricted to;
-Exception reports & performance reports
-Regulatory and compliance centric reports
-Strategic decision-making reported outcomes
-Development of analytical levellers and their parallel associations when analysis MI data
- Provides relevant information to meet Aspen's obligations. (e.g. for Team Head, ratings agencies and regulatory authorities).
- Where necessary assists in the management of Aspen's counterparty information i.e., ratings and other counterparty details to maintain data security, compliance and facilitate management information.
- Contribute to the successful measurement and controls underpinning IUS processes in relation to Aspen's compliance
Strategy and Planning:
- Using reporting development and report analytical skills to contributes to the design and implementation of the operational team plans to ensure these include operational considerations for delivery.
- Determines own work priorities and activities in line with agreed plans to ensure the achievement of personal and team objectives.
- Embrace and align management MI to ensure expected outcomes in the most cost-effective manner
- Provide system expertise to develop reporting suite that demonstrate plan execution
Policy, Process and Procedures:
- Contributes to Aspen's Insurance segment procedures and controls for the collection, review, consolidation and analysis of contractual risk information.
- Assists in the delivery and future development of Aspen's Insurance processes and systems, to ensure an efficient management and reporting of insurance records.
- Ensures Management MI is aligned with compliance & relevant legislation, industry codes and company policies and procedures to protect Aspen's regulatory position.
- Ensures that electronic files are maintained in a logical and accessible manner. Ensuring all reports are documented to provide clarity, context and understanding
- Strong alignment and guidance provided to the offshore team to facilitate expectations and outcomes
- Ensures awareness of and compliance with regulatory and legislative requirements
- Strong contribution to the development of relevant and decision-making MI
Environmental Awareness/Customer Focus:
- Builds and maintains strong key stakeholder relationships in order to provide an effective service to the business
- Maintains a primary focal role for IT related queries and associated resolution
- Continually develops knowledge of IT dynamics and market technology initiatives to support business performance.
- Report and make recommendation of any operational risk to the Head of IUS at the earliest opportunity
- Recognise and demonstrate awareness that everyone is the first line in addressing risk concerns and exposures
- Resolve customer queries, demonstrating a subject matter expert role, whilst escalating where needed
Requirements & Skills:
- Degree level education (or equivalent)
- +/- 2 years of relecant experiecne experience
- Broad based reinsurance and/or insurance experience
- Lloyd's market experience preferred
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Exceptional Proficient in MS Office applications effectively e.g. Excel and other departmental software packages
- Strong IT development skills in Visual Basics or equivalent programmes
- Able to manage conflicting priorities to achieve deadlines
- Able to plan effectively and efficiently
- Strong customer orientation skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment
- Good organisational skills
- Able to work independently as well as a team player
- Strong attention to detail and investigative skills
- Able to produce MI and detailed reports at various levels
- Ability to analyse data and use for decision-making
- Relevant knowledge of (Re)insurance customs, practices and procedures
- Sound understanding of (Re)Insurance concepts
- Working knowledge of company systems
- Knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements (specific reference to FCA/Lloyds regulation)
- Knowledge of Aspen's underwriting process and LoB specific nuisances and Expected MI outcomes
- Understanding of London market practises as they align to MI production
