The Role:
Reporting to the Head of Insurances, this role is to assist in the procurement and management of M&G’s Corporate and Real Estate insurance programme and related risk control activities.
It is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic individual with relevant experience, with strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
Working as a key member of a small team of insurance experts the remit of the role is wide, providing opportunities to work with all areas of the M&G business.
Key Responsibilities for this role:
- To understand business operational needs and assess insurance requirements of the group to protect M&G assets and liabilities.
- Support the development and implementation of an optimum risk transfer programme.
- Communicate to brokers and other insurance consultants all relevant aspects of the business, information and standards required in order to ensure competitive pricing and coverage for all insurance policies placed.
- Manage the placement of insurance programmes globally.
- Provide technical advice and guidance. Assist other departments as required.
- Produce internal procedures and summary documents and necessary internal consultation within the group to ensure various operating divisions are aware of insurance coverage in place.
- Be responsible for the claims process globally and drive improvements to the process.
- Actively manage large complex notifications and claims.
Key Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
- Knowledge of operational risks and insurance for the sector. Including the ability to identify, analyse and assess key risk exposures and identify potential insurance mitigants.
- Detailed understanding of the main classes of corporate insurances for the sector, including underwriting criteria, insurance policy structures, definitions, policy wordings and exclusions
- Detailed understanding of the Real Estate sector and insurance requirements.
- Knowledge of global insurance markets.
- Ability to communicate effectively and influence effectively with productive, successful relationships with stakeholders
- Relevant experience within an in-house insurance team, insurance broker, insurer or similar.
- Qualification – ACII (or equivalent insurance / risk qualification), or progress towards.
- Proven negotiation, influencing interpersonal skills with senior management.
- Ability to discuss and negotiate with insurers and insurance brokers on technical insurance points.
- Ability to prioritise workload and work on own initiative and handle pressure.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in the use of Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
