This post is a secondment until the 31 st December 2025 in the first instance to meet the needs of the service.

Expressions of interest are sought for the role of integrated health community (IHC) Associate Director of Nursing for the East health communities.
Being a senior leader in the Health Community the IHC Associate Director of Nursing will support the Director of Nursing who is responsible for serving the population for all aspects of the IHC’s nursing services. Including the workforce’s delivery of quality, activity and financial performance through culture, strategy, people development and resource management.
The associate director of Nursing will provide visible clinical leadership, ensuring a professional role model to nurses. They will ensure the professional standards are maintained, encouraging a culture of continuous learning and innovations. They will convey complex messages to others in a manner that is easily understood and will encourage others to accept accountability and responsibility , and take every opportunity to develop.
Main duties of the job
The postholder has specific responsibility & accountability for providing high quality services, together with operational responsibility for some Integrated Health Community services that span the wider health economy. The post holder alongside the IHC management team will shape the vision for the delivery of high quality acute, community hospital, community and primary care services together with operational responsibility for some service provision that spans the Health Community undertaken through a collaborative approach working with key stakeholders, including local authorities and partner organisations.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities
The post holder will provide inspirational Professional leadership to the operational and clinical teams, holding significant responsibility for the strategic development of nursing across the health community ensuring delivery of the Health Board’s Service, Financial, Performance and Improvement plans. Engaging at all levels, building and establishing collaborative working relationships to best facilitate the site and the Health Board.
The Post Holder is required to interpret the overall Health Board’s Strategic Plan and Health Policy and best practice nationally, and internationally to drive innovative practice and high quality services ensuring best practice and evidence base approaches are evident.
The postholder will motivate and engage at all levels and across all boundaries. To succeed in this role the individual will need to be able to build confidence across the organisation and the whole health board working autonomously in many strategic arenas when representing the wider health economy and the Health Board.
The post holder will take a health economy wide remit for Quality & Safety alongside that of the IHC Nurse Director, Medical Director and Finance & Performance responsibility for nursing staff. The post holder will ensure that professional regulatory standards, leadership, appropriate planning implementations, monitoring and review mechanisms are in place to develop high quality patient centred driven services within available resources.
The post holder will be operationally responsible for the nursing service within the Health Community, advocating and attaining high standards of patient care and performance against agreed metrics.
Key responsibilities will be to challenge, support, develop and ensure clinical and strategic partner engagement across the Health Board, ensuring robust systems for performance, financial management and quality governance are in place.
Alongside the IHC management team, the postholder will be responsible for implementing the Quality Improvement Strategy, and promoting a culture of safe, high quality Prudent and Compassionate Health Care.
The post holder will be responsible for assuring professional standards and practice in all aspects of nursing disciplines are achieved including adherence to statutory regulations. They will establish strong integrated multi-disciplinary teams to engage in service redesign, promoting a learning and development culture.
The post holder will support the IHC Nurse Director in implementing the Quality Improvement and Nursing Strategies, establishing a robust performance framework for providing assurance regards these domains.
Through the Delivery of Foundations 4 Change the post holder will commission the appropriate nursing services to meet the needs of the population.

Essential criteria
- Registered nurse with degree in relevant subject
- Masters Degree in Nursing or health related subject or working towards with completion in two years
- Considerable experience working at, or just below Board level.
- Combination of academic award, further training and experience to level 8 (Doctorate)
- Post-graduate management qualification

Essential criteria
- Extensive knowledge of nursing performance and staff management acquired through training and experience over extended period
- Extensive Leadership experience of leading and directing complex teams
- Demonstrable experience based on working in a senior nursing role with a track record of achievement
- Proven experience of budgetary management and delivery and staff management across services
- Considerable experience and highly developed clinical skills which are used in the day to day management of an Acute Hospital setting
