Interim VAT Specialist (Contract)

An international, private equity-backed group is looking for an Interim VAT Specialist to join their finance team on a contract basis. Reporting into the Head of Treasury with a dotted line to the Group Financial Controller, this role will focus on ensuring compliance across multiple European jurisdictions.

This is a hands-on role that requires someone with strong VAT knowledge, proven experience of managing compliance processes, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee VAT compliance across European regions, supporting local finance teams and responding to VAT queries.
• Review VAT and corporate tax computations and returns prepared externally, ensuring timely and accurate approvals.
• Liaise with external compliance providers across the UK and internationally.
• Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations for VAT/Tax accounts across the group.
• Ensure VAT and other tax-related payments are processed efficiently through the AP function.

About You:

• Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CPA) with strong VAT and corporate tax knowledge.
• Experience working in complex, international environments.
• High attention to detail with strong organisational skills.
• Ability to work independently and prioritise effectively.
• ATT or CTA (or working towards) desirable.
