We are currently recruiting for an Internal Airworthiness Auditor (UK CAA & IOSA Compliant) to join the Compliance Team based in our Glasgow Head Office.
This role ensures continuous compliance with UK CAA and IOSA standards by conducting independent, objective audits of airworthiness and operational systems. The role supports the organisation’s Safety Management System (SMS) and Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring regulatory adherence and promoting a proactive safety culture.
Nature of the Role
UK CAA Compliance Monitoring: In accordance with UK Regulation, the role supports the internal compliance monitoring programme, ensuring all airworthiness functions are audited within the approved oversight cycle.
IOSA Standards: Ensures conformance with IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) standards, particularly sections related to Maintenance and Engineering (MOE), Quality Assurance (ORG), and Safety Management (SMS) and other areas as deemed appropriate and competent by HOC.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct internal audits effectively and efficiently as required by the approved internal audit schedule, ensuring coverage of all continuing airworthiness and maintenance activities in line with Regulation.
- Conduct external audits of suppliers and contractors to verify compliance with contractual and regulatory obligations, including product sampling where applicable.
- Host third-party audits, including IOSA and UK CAA inspections, ensuring readiness and accurate representation of compliance status.
- Monitor nonconformities and assess the effectiveness and suitability of resultant corrective and preventive actions (CA/PA), ensuring closure within agreed timelines and minimal recurrence.
- Objectively review risk treatment strategies, integrating hazard identification and human factors assessments into audit planning and execution.
- Provide timely, evidence-based reports to senior management on audit outcomes, risk trends, and safety recommendations, contributing to continuous improvement and strategic oversight.
- Maintain and improve the Compliance department’s processes, aligning with ISO 9001 principles and regulatory expectations.
- Support operational departments (Airworthiness, Flight Ops, Ground Ops) by providing regulatory advice and interpretation, assisting with root cause analysis and corrective action development, attending operational and safety review meetings, and performing wet lease and contracted service reviews.
- Support the Head of Compliance (HOC) in achieving departmental objectives and regulatory obligations.
- Manage internal quality improvement projects as directed by the HOC, including cross-functional initiatives.
- Perform ad hoc tasks as required by the Safety department and Senior Management.
- Ensure audit coverage across all approved locations, with frequency based on activity levels and not exceeding two years.
- Manage time effectively to maintain personal deadlines and ensure adherence to the approved audit schedule.
- Undertake roles within the emergency response and crisis management team as appropriate.
- Act as on duty safety representative as and when required
- Any task as deemed appropriate by Director of Safety, HOC or Senior Management team in support of Loganair’s objectives
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years in airworthiness or aircraft engineering.
- ISO 9001 Auditor and Lead Auditor certification.
- Recent training in UK CAA regulations and IOSA standards
- Experience with Safety Management Systems (SMS) and Compliance Monitoring
