As the
Internal Audit Manager - Finance Assurance you will provide independent assurance to the CEO and the Board that core processes and controls in respect of financial accounting and reporting are operating as expected and within the risk appetite of Metro Bank taking into account the effectiveness of risk management, control and governance processes in monitoring, managing and mitigating the risks, to deliver AMAZEING customer service sustainably.
What You Will Do
- Develop and execute the Finance Audit Plan to provide assurance to the Audit Committee and Board and report findings in a timely manner. Delivery of audits involves -
- Use of a range of audit techniques, such as data analytics
- Consideration of detailed and sometimes complex audit findings and taking a balanced view of the impact
- Report on management’s control awareness (attitude and approach taken)
- Prepare and present reports that reflect the audit’s results and document process
- Maintain strong standards of documentation, supporting audit conclusions in compliance with GIAS requirements, IA charter and IA methodology.
- Follow up management actions and ensure that they have been implemented and the risk addressed before reporting them as closed for the Audit Committee.
- Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders within Finance and Treasury functions and attend risk committees.
- Keep up to date with changes to accounting standards and impacts on and risk management.
- Be aware of other assurance activities in 1LOD/2LOD and within internal audit, and how this impacts your own work.
- Undertake bespoke projects/investigations as required.
- Contribute to projects and development of Internal Audit practices.

What You Will Need
- Qualified accountant: ACA, ACCA (with experience in the banking sector)
- PQE 3+ years ideally covering finance controls.
- Knowledge of risks and controls relating to finance activities, financial reporting and treasury activities ideally from internal audit perspective.
- Knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards and auditing standards.
- Awareness of business trends and legal/ regulatory changes.
