About The Role

The Group Internal Audit (GIA) Portfolio Manager – COO & Technology is responsible for the timely and effective delivery of audits across Quilter’s Internal Audit Plan. This role supports the Board, Executive Management, and the Audit and Risk Committees in safeguarding the organisation’s assets, reputation, and long-term sustainability. By evaluating governance, risk management, and internal controls, the Portfolio Manager ensures that significant risks are identified, reported, and adequately controlled, while also driving improvements across the Group.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and deliver audits across COO & Technology, including cyber security, third-party risk, operational resilience, and data governance.
- Evaluate governance, risk management, and internal controls, identifying improvements and root causes.
- Contribute to audit planning and provide specialist advice on COO & Technology risks.
- Manage audit assignments end-to-end, ensuring timely delivery and quality standards.
- Coach and develop audit team members, supporting their growth and performance.
- Build strong stakeholder relationships and maintain awareness of emerging risks.
- Communicate findings clearly through reports and presentations.
- Support issue assurance, continuous risk monitoring, and departmental initiatives including agile auditing and data analytics.
- Maintain awareness of relevant regulations and best practice standards (e.g. FCA SYSC 8, NIST, COBIT).
About You
The successful candidate:
- Significant experience in risk and controls-focused roles (e.g. Internal Audit, External Audit, Risk, or Compliance).
- Proven ability to lead and manage audits involving multi-disciplinary teams and budget oversight.
- Strong track record in coaching and developing auditors.
- Experience in senior stakeholder relationship management, including engagement with Business and Group Executives.
- Advanced technical knowledge of risk and controls in Wealth and Asset Management, particularly investment management and operations.
- Familiarity with CASS regulations is advantageous.
- Holds or is working towards a relevant professional qualification (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CISA, IMC, CFA, or equivalent).
- Involvement in industry professional bodies is beneficial.
- Demonstrates curiosity, innovation, and resilience in challenging conventional approaches and enhancing audit methodologies.
- Balances commercial awareness with objectivity and independence, maintaining high personal integrity.
- Capable of producing high-quality outputs (e.g. audit documentation, issue summaries, reports, presentations).
