The opportunity

The key function of this role is to support the effective delivery of a broad range of Internal Communications projects and ensure the smooth running of day to day internal communications.

The Internal Communications Executive will operate as part of the brand and marketing communications teams and liaise closely with MBD and other business services colleagues, lawyers and partners across the international firm.

The role is ideal for an individual who is a motivated self-starter with a great eye for detail and a genuine interest and/ or background in Marketing & Communications.


The team

Bird & Bird's Marketing & Business Development (MBD) team's mission is to build the firm's profile, win new work and strengthen and deepen client relationships.

In London, the team comprises over 60 specialists in marketing communications, business development and client service, all working closely alongside our tight-knit international network of MBD colleagues based across our 32 offices worldwide. Whether it's driving a new content strategy, pitching for cutting-edge work, building our brand or contributing to the development of our client relationships, we're committed to providing exceptional service to the firm and are known for leading the way when it comes to new technology and solutions. What you'll do

  • Write, edit and publish international and London news for the firm’s intranet and internal newsletters
  • Manage the firm’s internal content calendar and publishing processes, liaising closely with the wider marketing communications team to ensure internal and external messaging is aligned and consistent
  • Support other Business Services teams across the globe, especially the D&I, ESG, HR and IT teams, in delivering engaging and streamlined content and messaging
  • Maintain the firm’s intranet homepage and Marketing intranet pages
  • Measure and report on internal communications campaigns, using that analysis to improve engagement and optimise our channels
  • Act as an ambassador for the firm’s brand and tone of voice, advising and supporting colleagues on best practices
  • Support the delivery of a range of other corporate communication materials and projects as required


About you

The successful candidate will have:

Technical skills:

  • Attention to detail, a ‘can do’ approach, approachability, flexibility, a practical/common sense manner, ability to work well under pressure
  • Methodical and with a structured and process-driven mentality
  • Team player with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Understanding of different cultures and their way of working
  • Ability to work closely with colleagues at all levels
  • Excellent MS skills (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint, VivaEngage and Excel).Experience of working with HTML would be useful.

The main responsibilities of this role are outlined above; however, this description is not exhaustive, and the job holder may be required to undertake additional duties from time to time to ensure the smooth running of the department. The role may require some working outside our normal working hours of 9:30am- 5:30pm.
