Description
The International Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the Firm's overseas operations in management and financial accounting, providing support for the firm's strategic decision-making processes.
The International Accounting Manager role reports to the Head Of Group Financial Reporting & Control and has two direct reports – the Assistant Systems Accountant and the International Finance Assistant, all based in Bristol.
The role is for a 12 month maternity cover.
Key Responsibilities
International Accounting:
- Ensuring all financial transactions in relation to non-UK entities are recorded appropriately in systems, in line with Group accounting policy and local regulations.
- Ensuring key balance sheet accounts are reconciled, liaising with the non-UK entities to ensure that local and UK books are reconciled and differences between both set of books are explained.
- Assisting the Group Financial Accountant with audit queries in relation to the overseas entities.
- Managing cashflow requirements of the non-UK entities to ensure there are sufficient funds available to make payments.
- Supporting international expansion projects and business cases including any financial analysis.
- Working with the International Finance teams to ensure their business is aware of and consistently meets both regulatory requirements (UK and Local) and our internal risk management framework.
- Communicating and ensuring adherence to financial policy, process and controls to people outside the finance function and / or UK, providing training where necessary. Ensure non-UK teams adopt appropriate systems where appropriate.
- Supporting finance transformation projects, engaging with the project management team to assist in different phases over the course of the life of the project.
- Assisting with other ad-hoc projects as and when required.
Team Management:
- Play a key role in the development of the team through regular coaching and 1-2-1s.
- Identify and recognise positive performance and behaviours. Making a significant contribution to the know-how and development of others where knowledge gaps have been identified.
Stakeholder Management:
- Work collaboratively with the wider Finance teams located overseas. Key stakeholders include Finance Managers in overseas locations, other members of the extended Finance team in Bristol and the International Development Director, amongst others.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Essential:- Qualified accountant (CIMA, ACA, ACCA or equivalent). This role will require an awareness of methods other than UK GAAP.
- Comfortable working with multiple currencies with a good understanding of accounting treatments and exchange risk.
- Good knowledge of Excel.
- Builds highly effective relationships, and works collaboratively with internal customers.
- Organised and able to handle multiple demands and deadlines simultaneously.
- Ability to convey complex financial and accounting concepts in a clear and straightforward manner.
- Self-starter, keen to take ownership, solve problems, learn and grow.
- Fluent in written and oral English
- Willingness to flex working hours to fit the working patterns of wider Finance teams located overseas.
Desirable:- Experience of working with 3E would be an advantage.
- Experience in inter-company accounting would be beneficial.
- Previous coaching/mentoring of junior staff would be beneficial.
- Knowledge of other languages like Spanish, French and Italian would be useful but not essential
