Role description

At Tata Technologies we make product development dreams a reality by designing, engineering and validating the products of tomorrow for the world’s leading manufacturers. Due to our continued growth we are now recruiting for a System Engineer-Invertors to be based at our customer’s site in Gaydon.

Our Embedded Systems Solutions department (ESS) encompasses all activities outlined under the Automotive SPICE (ASPICE) process framework, including systems engineering, software engineering, coding, and all levels of functional testing. Beyond core development, ESS also integrates critical supporting processes such as project management, risk assessment, functional safety, and cybersecurity, ensuring compliance with ASPICE standards and delivering reliable, secure, and high-quality embedded systems & solutions.

The Role:

We’re seeking an experienced System Engineer to lead the architectural definition and requirements engineering of advanced automotive inverter systems. This role is instrumental in shaping the system-level design and specification of high-voltage power electronics, ensuring optimal functionality, safety, and integration within electrified vehicle platforms.

Area of Responsibility

System Architecture

  • Define system architecture for inverter platforms, including control strategies, hardware/software boundaries, and interface definitions.

  • Develop block diagrams, functional models, and performance specifications aligned with vehicle and powertrain requirements.

  • Support architecture refinement across SiC-based, multi-phase, and high-efficiency inverter topologies.

 Requirements Engineering

  • Capture, structure, and manage system-level requirements using tools like DOORS, Polarion, or equivalent.

  • Ensure traceability of inverter requirements through design, implementation, and validation phases.

  • Lead stakeholder workshops for requirement elicitation and alignment across cross-functional domains.

  • Collaborate with safety, software, hardware, and validation teams to define interface and compliance boundaries.

Technical Integration

  • Interface with BMS, motor control units, DC/DC converters, and vehicle-level systems to ensure robust integration.

  • Contribute to design reviews, FMEA analyses, and system safety planning.

  • Support the development of DVP&R plans, interface documents, and system documentation deliverables.

Knowledge / Experience

  • Experience in power electronics system design, ideally within automotive inverter applications.

  • Strong foundation in system architecture, embedded powertrain systems, and high-voltage component integration.

  • Expertise in requirements engineering, including requirements decomposition, traceability, and compliance.

  • Familiarity with ISO 26262, ASPICE, and automotive systems engineering frameworks.

 Preferred Skills

  • Understanding of inverter control algorithms (FOC, PWM, current regulation).

  • Experience with modeling tools (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink, SysML).

  • Knowledge of diagnostic protocols and safety mechanisms.

  • Ability to work in agile development environments and across global teams.

In return for bringing your expertise to our business we offer a competitive salary along with excellent benefits including:
