Role Purpose and Responsibilities

As an Investigation Specialist, you’ll play a key role in maintaining public confidence in the regulatory process by conducting fair, timely and robust investigations. Reporting into the Regulatory Investigation Manager, you’ll analyse detailed information, gather and evaluate evidence, and manage cases end-to-end to ensure they meet professional standards and regulatory requirements.

You’ll work collaboratively with internal teams, members, regulated firms, and other stakeholders, managing investigations transparently and accountably in line with RICS Professional Standards, Rules of Conduct and Bye-Laws. Through excellent case management, careful decision-making and high-quality customer service, you will contribute to the integrity and credibility of the profession.

• Prioritise and manage a caseload of investigation, ensuring cases are progressed and concluded in line with KPIs and quality standards.
• Analyse and investigate concerns about regulated firms and members, including non-compliance issues, by gathering, evaluating, and recording evidence.
• Make clear, robust casework decisions at the appropriate level of delegation.
• Produce high-quality written documentation including allegations, evidence bundles, and reports for the Head of Regulation.
• Demonstrate sound judgement by making balanced, fair decisions in the public interest, supported by clear resourcing.
• Communicate advise, decisions and outcomes clearly to members, firms, and the public.
• Provide information and guidance to support compliance, assurance, education, and engagement with the profession.
• Build strong internal and external relationships to ensure effective, transparent investigation processes.

About You

You’ll be someone who brings sound judgement, excellent analytical skills and a commitment to fairness and professionalism. You enjoy managing complex information, working to high standards, and navigating sensitive or challenging situations with confidence and clarity.

• Proven experience working within regulatory or complaint-handling environment.
• Strong understanding of the principles of better regulation and the ability to apply them effectively in a non-statutory, cross-border context.
• Experience drafting high-quality documents, including formal reports and case summaries.
• Ability to influence, challenge constructively and build effective working relationships.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messages to different audiences.
• Commitment to delivering excellent customer service while handling sensitive or complex issues.
• Demonstrated ability to manage and progress your own caseload effectively.
• Willingness to embrace feedback and adapt behaviours to improve effectiveness.
• Ability to contribute positively to team cohesion and collective accountability.
