Main Function of the role:
FHI provides market leading investment solutions in real estate, infrastructure, private equity and
private debt. Beyond investment management, Federated Hermes also provides engagement in equity and bond markets, proxy voting and policy advocacy. Following the acquisition of Hermes Investments by Federated in 2018, strategic initiatives to harmonise processes and practices are a strong element of the global change agenda.
This role will provide Investment Operations Business Analyst support within a programme of work designed to reinforce wide integration, create opportunities for commercial growth, and deliver operational efficiency improvements across the US and UK. This role sits within the Investment Operations team. The role holder will represent the global Middle Office operations function, providing operational project assistance and business analysis to support the evaluation for a strategic global multi-year programme of work to both globalise and outsource Federated Hermes’ Middle Office function.
The role holder will be accountable for ensuring the Operations business are engaged and versed in the programme as required, with significant engagement and interaction with the BAU subject matter experts across both Middle Office and Technology.
The role holder will input into the design and delivery of the strategic target operating model and delivery approach for globalised Middle Office. Beyond the initial programme of evaluation work, the role holder could become a valuable asset to a future implementation of the globalised Middle Office Function.
Key task and responsibilities:
Support the large Middle Office programme of strategic importance to FHI as required.
• Work in a highly collaborative and coordinated fashion, both across the business and with our
outsourced provider.
• Working with stakeholders across the global business to ensure deliverables are met and
momentum is maintained.
• Drive, design and deliver the strategic target operating model for the global trade matching,
confirmation, and messaging services maintaining a broad view across all Front Office and
Operations functions.
• Contribution to Federated Hermes’ project management toolkit; predominantly business
requirement gathering and analysis.
• Strong collaboration with full programme core delivery team.
• Production of status reporting, updates, issues and risks for Investment Operations BAU
• Supporting the Investment Operations Change Subject Matter Expert as required.
• Providing support for the successful delivery of day-to-day operational service where project
activity permits
Experience Required:
• Knowledge of Modular service models within a complex outsourced service model, involving multiple service provers.
• Expertise in business process re-engineering, change management and transformation activity
• Experience of managing outsourced service provision
• Detailed understanding of the end to end Operational and Asset Servicing workflow
• Prior globalisation and outsourcing experience from an operations perspective highly
advantageous as is prior experience with TOM design.
• Understanding and application of business requirement gathering and project management /
governance.
• Understanding and practical experience of operating model development.
• Experience of supporting Middle Office-focussed change on large projects / programmes
preferably in the investment industry
• Experience with Middle Office systems, practices, regulation and public market lifecycle.

Minimum knowledge and Experience Required:
• Deep knowledge of the end to end Middle Office/investment accounting business cycle, including external market infrastructure used
• Broad asset knowledge across Equities, Fixed Income & Derivatives ( ETD & OTC )
• Prior knowledge of Eagle, CRD & BBGAIM would be highly desirable.
• Experience with Middle Office Service providers

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, ability to establish an effective rapport, communicate and influence at all levels
• Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage a number of activities concurrently
• Deadline and results focused; able to work and deliver solutions under time sensitive deadlines
• Ability to co-ordinate functions with multiple stakeholders
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills, capable of thinking logically, using initiative and able to resolve complex operational challenges
• Strong IT skills
• Ability to communicate technical concepts and ideas to non-technical audience
