IT Business Analyst (Defence)

The National Composites Centre

Bristol based – largely on site with limited hybrid working

Salary: £43,985 to £54,083 per annum (experience dependent)

Security clearance: You must be a minimum SC Cleared, willing and eligible to get DV clearance or currently hold DV clearance due to the nature of the work.

Summary:

We’re looking for an IT Business Analyst to join us and take responsibility for our defence related IT Business Analysis projects.

This is a new role to support our expanding organisation and an exciting time to join as we develop our IT services & operations.

You’ll focus on our emerging defence portfolio of work.

Examples of specific activities could include;

  • Lead on the development and elaboration of compelling Business Cases and detailed requirements documentation for complex programmes and projects
  • Ensuring that project benefits are clearly identified, mapped and monitored at initiation and throughout the project lifecycle
  • Identify & propose continuous improvement opportunities to Business Analysis policy or procedures. Required

  • Project Work: Provide IT Governance assurance for non-functional requirements in Statements of Requirements and similar documents and ensures projects and IT procurements are carried out with these in mind.
  • Project Work: Apply initiative to devise options and solutions to complex business problems, using a range of business analysis tools and techniques to ensure differing perspectives, relevant policy, legislation and regulations are considered.
  • Project Work: Ensure that project solutions are in-line with key stakeholder requirements, and that any process changes as a result of the project are documented and understood.
  • Project Work: Coach, mentor, motivate and supervise project and programme team BAs to ensure successful project delivery
  • Project Sponsors - Actively engages with sponsors throughout the project delivery lifecycle ensuring requirements are being adhered to and scope is not changing.


So, what are we looking for in your application?

We will prioritise applications with background in fields such as defence, engineering & manufacturing industries. Specific experience we will look for in your application includes:

  • Proven track record as an IT Business Analyst. Examples of relevant projects relating to IT infrastructure, networking, cyber security, IT service delivery.
  • Security Clearance – SC as a minimum with willingness to undertake DV.
  • Experience supporting or delivering business change
  • Understanding of Waterfall and Agile methodologies (mainly waterfall)
  • Strong stakeholder management, communication and relationship management skills
  • Excellent analytical and problems-solving abilities, and a sound knowledge of process review, business analysis and system development methodologies
  • Desirable: Relevant Professional IT Qualifications – BCS BA Practitioner or Six Sigma Black Belt or IT degree. However if you have the experience above please still apply.
