About The Role
Balfour Beatty are currently looking for a
IT & Cyber Security Advisor to join our Major Projects team based at
Raynesway, Derby.
Within this role you'll support with the protection of digital assets, operational technology (OT), and project data across construction sites and corporate environments. The role focuses on safeguarding systems, networks, and data from cyber threats, ensuring compliance with industry-specific security standards and supporting digital transformation initiatives. Promoting cyber security awareness across construction programme and supply chain partners devising interactive training sessions, posters, email campaigns and other documentation.
Due to the nature of this role, you will be required to undergo and maintain security vetting to Security Check (SC) level.
What you'll be doing
As a IT & Cyber Security Advisor You'll
- Monitor and report on potential security threats and vulnerabilities to ensure timely and effective responses.
- Conduct regular phishing simulations to educate and assess employee readiness against social engineering attacks.
- Participate in the development and maintenance of security dashboards that provide real-time insights into network health.
- Collaborate with IT teams to ensure security standards are integrated into all technology projects and infrastructure developments.
- Assist in the preparation of reports on security status and incidents for senior management review.
- Engage in continuous learning activities to remain updated with the latest cybersecurity trends and technologies.
- Support the implementation of new security policies and protocols across the organisation.
- Assist in the coordination of third-party security audits and compliance checks.
- Contribute to risk assessment initiatives to evaluate the potential impact of security breaches.
- Ensure all activities are conducted in line with Balfour Beatty’s ethical standards and compliance requirements.
- Understand client security requirements and advise the project in ways to achieve these
- Uplift the information and cyber security awareness via interactive training sessions, posters, email campaigns and other documentation.
Who we're looking for
You'll Have/be
- A degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field is required.
- Awareness of current cybersecurity frameworks (e.g., Cyber Essentials Plus, ISO 27001) is beneficial.
- Basic understanding of IT infrastructure components and their role in network security.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration and reporting.
- No specific professional memberships or accreditations are required, but a commitment to ongoing professional development is expected.
- Leadership capabilities are not required at this entry-level position but demonstrating potential for future leadership roles is advantageous.
