Role
Join our IT Operations team at Perth & Kinross Council. We need skilled and motivated engineers for two essential areas to deliver secure, resilient, and future-ready digital services. Applicants must be technically confident in one of these roles:
- Security & Access - Identity, Access, & Platforms
- Infrastructure Support - Business Applications
- Infrastructure Support - Networking & Telephony

What You'll Bring
We're looking for engineers who:
- Qualified or experienced: Hold an HND or higher in a relevant field or demonstrate substantial hands-on IT experience.

Skills & Experience Required
Main Purpose of Each Role
Security & Access - Identity, Access & Platforms
- Support identity and access platforms including Microsoft 365, Security Service Edge, and domain services, ensuring secure and reliable access across environments.
- Implement and maintain access controls for cloud and on-premises systems, enforcing consistent security policies across SaaS, IaaS, and hybrid setups.
- Manage identity lifecycle processes such as provisioning, deprovisioning, and role-based access, while maintaining compliance with internal policies.
- Assist with infrastructure changes and incident recovery, ensuring minimal disruption and supporting containment and recovery during security incidents.
- Maintain accurate configuration and asset data to support IT Asset Management, lifecycle planning, and risk mitigation.
- Contribute to governance activities, including monitoring access rights, managing web traffic policies, and participating in Information Governance and Security initiatives.
Infrastructure Support - Business Applications
- Support the full lifecycle of business applications, including design, implementation, upgrades, patching, and decommissioning, aligned with technical standards.
- Contribute to procurement and renewal processes, providing technical input and helping define and refine application requirements.
- Maintain comprehensive technical documentation, covering system diagrams, troubleshooting, upgrade procedures, best practices, and disaster recovery plans.
- Identify and address security vulnerabilities, ensuring business applications comply with security policies and supporting incident investigations.
- Provide technical support for SQL Server and Oracle databases, including licensing, performance tuning, and ongoing maintenance.
- Collaborate across teams, maintaining accurate asset configurations and contributing to lifecycle planning and risk assessments.
Infrastructure Support - Networking & Telephony
- Provide technical support for voice and data networks, including LAN/WAN, wireless, and telephony systems across corporate and educational sites.
- Implement and maintain secure, resilient, and scalable network services, ensuring high performance and availability.
- Support key infrastructure projects, such as WAN upgrades, wireless enhancements, remote access solutions, and telephony strategy delivery.
- Monitor and optimise network performance, proactively resolving issues and ensuring compliance with security and operational standards.
- Manage network hardware and software lifecycles, including deployment, maintenance, and support for switches, routers, and load balancers.
- Contribute to Zero Trust and cloud connectivity strategies, maintain accurate asset data, and support incident recovery and root cause analysis.
