We are looking for a Junior Art Director to join Ffern. They will sit within our growing design team, reporting to the Design Director.

Key Responsibilities

  • Concept development: create briefs and treatments, underpinned by boundless creativity, thoughtful references and thorough research
  • Visual identity: work with the Design Team to define material, colour and tonal palettes for seasonal fragrances and other Ffern launches
  • Art direction on-set: collaborate with photographers, set designers, stylists and other practitioners to deliver exceptional visuals; on smaller shoots, you’ll fulfil some of these roles yourself (flexibility on what this entails, based on your interests and expertise)
  • Art direction for print and digital touchpoints: collaborate with designers to ensure your work is deployed to maximum effect through layout, curation and graphic design
  • Ad-hoc creative support: provide art direction for a variety of one-off projects and commissions
  • Brand stewardship: uphold Ffern guidelines and best practice in all stages of your work
  • Brand building: work closely with the rest of the design team to hone and develop Ffern’s visual identity

Requirements

  • Creativity: the ability to craft genuinely-original visual concepts
  • Experience: a digital portfolio of projects demonstrating your skill and point of view
  • Concept-led design: the ability to respond to creative briefs thoughtfully and strategically, with clear rationale for your proposals
  • Space, material: the ability to think in terms of space and material, bridging the gap between physical and digital with your work
  • Articulation: the ability to visualise and express in words your ideas such that they can be understood by internal stakeholders and external collaborators
  • Software: proficiency in Adobe CS amongst other design software
  • Brand acumen: an understanding of and affinity for the world of Ffern, drawing on relevant references to expand and elevate
  • Communication, organisation: the ability to work with a variety of stakeholders on concurrent projects, prioritising effectively and being an advocate for the role of design in cross-functional processes
