The Team
The nature of A&O Shearman's work is increasingly advanced and multi-jurisdictional. The Advanced Delivery Legal department plays an increasing role in managing and delivering important elements of major transactions and handling various types of work for global relationship clients.
We have several exciting opportunities for Junior Associates/Associates to join the Banking & Finance team in our Belfast office. We are keen to meet qualified lawyers with experience in Banking & Finance.
Role And Responsibilities
In this role you will work with a growing team of Legal Professionals and with offices across the global network on client matters, supporting multiple practice groups. You will have a high level of interaction with counterparts in other offices to enable you and your colleagues to operate as fully integrated members of matter teams. In the early stages of engagement, this will include scoping, mapping work and monitoring capacity. In this role you will also be expected to work independently, lead a team and be the first line of support for Legal Professionals and Senior Associates.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead growing teams of Legal Professionals to work with instructing offices on client matters across the A&O Shearman global network.
- Work closely with Partners and instructing teams to scope instructions and to deliver legal services, and projects.
- Establish and maintain the highest standards for quality, efficiency, and service including quality control / review of work of more junior members of the team.
- Manage and report on progress and liaise with both internal and external clients to address points of relevance or concern and resolving queries and issues.
- Provide legal expertise; including drafting, reviewing, and amending documentation, document management, legal research, maintaining and improving templates and precedents.
- Identify and develop innovative service lines supporting practice groups and clients of strategic importance.
- Participate in business development and client pitches, tenders, pricing decisions, and client service.
Who We Are Looking For
- Member of the roll as a solicitor or barrister, or a Fellow of CILEx.
- Experience in Banking & Finance law.
- Consistently demonstrate a professional manner with evidence of exceptional levels of judgement, commercial awareness, and critical thinking.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Strong relationship-building skills a team player with the ability to establish credibility and inspire confidence with clients and senior colleagues.
- Demonstrate a high level of affinity with legal technology and a desire to expand experience in legal technology.
- Ability to collaborate with both the Advanced Delivery Legal team and teams across the network
