Overview
The London Borough of Harrow’s Digital Services Team is looking for a Junior Geographical Information Systems Officer. The postholder will play a crucial role in developing and supporting the Council’s GIS systems and projects. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to innovative digital solutions that will support improvement to the lives of Harrow residents and help Council services make smarter business decisions using spatial data.
About You
The successful candidate will have:
- In-depth knowledge of the theory and principles of geographic data, associated analysis and geographic information systems (GIS).
- An understanding of cartographic principles and techniques.
- Demonstrable knowledge of GIS and GMS systems used across the industry.
- Awareness of key geographic information organisations such as Ordnance Survey, GeoPlace, Association for Geographic Information (AGI), Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) and Royal Geographic Society (RGS).
- Knowledge of data standards such as the LLPG data entry conventions (DEC) and data transfer format (DTF), BS7666, INSPIRE and OGC WebMapping.
- Experience of working with ESRI products including ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online.
- Educated to degree level or equivalent or has the equivalent relevant work experience.
