A leading global real estate investment and asset management firm is seeking a commercially focused Junior Legal Counsel (2-4 years PQE) to join its London office. This broad role offers exposure to high-value property transactions, development projects, and strategic asset management.
Reporting directly to the General Counsel, the position is ideal for a qualified lawyer with a strong interest in real estate and a desire to work across the full lifecycle of property investment and development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support on real estate development projects, including negotiating consultant appointments, contracts, reliance letters, and liaising with external counsel and internal development teams.
- Assist with investment transactions, including legal due diligence and documentation for acquisitions and disposals of real estate assets.
- Project manage legal documentation for financing deals, ensuring compliance with lender requirements and coordinating with internal teams and external advisors.
- Review and negotiate commercial contracts with suppliers and consultants, particularly those related to property operations and hotel assets.
- Liaise with external counsel on litigation matters and manage legal proceedings related to property disputes or claims.
- Maintain and assess the firm’s intellectual property portfolio, particularly in relation to branded real estate assets.
- Draft intra-group agreements, termination notices, and bespoke legal documents related to property and development matters.
- Conduct legal and market research to support strategic decisions in real estate investment and development.
- Ensure legal documentation is well-organised and deadlines are tracked via SharePoint and internal systems.
- Stay informed on legal and regulatory developments affecting the real estate sector
Candidate Requirements:
- UK-qualified lawyer with 2-4 years PQE, ideally with experience in real estate, development, or commercial property law.
- Strong commercial awareness and ability to work across varied legal areas within a property-focused business.
- Excellent drafting, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Comfortable working independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
- Highly organised, discreet and trustworthy with sensitive information.
