Junior legal counsel – Commercial

SSQ is partnering with a leading global asset management firm to appoint a Junior Legal Counsel (2-3 PQE) to join its London-based legal function. This newly created position offers a unique opportunity for a commercial and versatile lawyer to assume a varied role within a dynamic and fast-paced business environment.
Reporting directly to the General Counsel, this role provides the opportunity to play an integral role in supporting the legal and strategic operations of the firm.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review, draft and negotiate a wide variety of commercial contracts, particularly with suppliers and consultants in the hotel sector (F&B, events, IT).
- Support projects, including consultant appointments, contracts and liaising with external counsel.
- Project manage legal documentation for financing transactions, ensuring compliance with lender requirements.
- Assist with investment activity, including legal due diligence and documentation for acquisitions and disposals.
- Liaise with external counsel on litigation matters, managing claims and proceedings.
- Maintain and assess the firm’s intellectual property portfolio, identifying protection gaps.
- Conduct legal and market research to support strategic decision-making.
- Draft intra-group agreements, termination notices and bespoke legal documents.
- Synthesise complex legal reports and contracts, highlighting key risks and issues for internal stakeholders.
- Stay up to date with relevant legal and regulatory developments across the business.
Candidate Requirements:
- UK-qualified lawyer with 2-3 years PQE, ideally with experience in commercial law.
- Strong commercial awareness and ability to work across varied legal areas.
- Excellent drafting, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Comfortable working independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
- Highly organised, discreet and trustworthy with sensitive information.
