Junior Tax Assistant

ROLE OVERVIEW //

We are recruiting for a Junior Tax Assistant to join the tax team who sit within the Finance Department. You will be working with all members of the tax team, reporting to the senior tax manager and will be responsible for providing tax compliance and tax administration services to the partners and the firm.

The role is suitable for an individual with a keen interest in finance who would like a career in personal and partnership tax. You will also be able to enhance your knowledge and skills by studying for the ATT and CTA professional tax qualifications. This is a new role and no prior experience in tax is necessary.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES //

The key responsibilities of this role are set out below and there may be others which are not listed. You may be required on occasion to work outside our normal working hours of 9:30am to 5:30pm.

• Assisting with the annual tax compliance cycle including the preparation of Partners’ tax returns and the Partnership tax return.
• Drafting correspondence to send to Partners and HMRC.
• Assisting with the tax payment process which may include drafting emails and checking HMRC.
• Assisting with the preparation of secondee UK tax returns.
• Analysing and reconciling ledgers to assist with the preparation of the Partnership tax computation and tax reserves.
• Undertaking research into tax technical matters as and when required.
• General assistance to ensure Partners’ tax affairs are kept up to date, including maintaining internal spreadsheets and HMRC systems.
• Dealing with the tax administration for all Partners including data management.
• General administrative support where needed, which may include completing HMRC forms and copying, printing and scanning tax information.

Candidates for this position must have:

• Competent in Microsoft office, including Excel and Word.
• Ability to balance workload with the pressures of studying for a professional qualification.
• Ability to work on own initiative as well as working as part of a team.
• Ability to work under pressure in order to meet time deadlines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Professional and organised approach to work.
• Accuracy and pride in their work product.
