The opportunity

Our Brand Management team are seeking a Junior Trade Mark Administrator to join this growing practice area.

You will be part of a team that is responsible for global trademark and other intellectual property portfolio management within an international law firm. Your primary focus will be supporting the day to day record management for trademarks and designs. This role requires someone who has a can-do attitude, a willingness to learn and grow new skills, high attention to detail and the ability to be flexible.

Strong written Arabic skills would be desirable for this role.

The team

Our Intellectual Property team is consistently ranked as band 1 in both Legal 500 and Chambers and Partners. We have one of the largest IP teams in London with c.80 lawyers with unparalleled contentious and non-contentious capabilities in relation to all IP rights; trade marks, patents, copyright and database rights, confidential information and data privacy. We advise on IP protection, enforcement, strategic management, valuation and monetisation of brand portfolios. Because of our broad remit our clients are an eclectic mix of the diverse and traditional.

What You'll Do

  • Review incoming and outgoing correspondence to identify key information, statutory deadlines, timetables for future activity/requirements and other docketing details and updating firm's IP software database accordingly.
  • Assist with due diligence related to trade mark and IP portfolios, including auditing of data from national IPO, local associates and other commercial databases.
  • Assist with portfolio on-boarding, including review of IP portfolios, data creation and data verification for critical fields and deadlines.
  • Preparing reports to clients details of new trade mark and design applications, publication notices, and registrations.
  • Generating portfolio reports in multiple formats.
  • Storing hard copies of documents where relevant.

About You

  • Administration support work experience, particularly in either the trademark or legal industry (preferred)
  • Experience of working with WebTMS or other intellectual property management systems (desirable)
  • Good technical document management skills, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy in work produced
  • A flexible, can-do attitude with a willingness to learn and expand knowledge and skills within the role
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proactive attitude and ability to work effectively under pressure.
  • Strong organisational skills including excellent time & workload management and prioritisation.
  • Reliability when dealing with confidential matters
  • Ownership and responsibility for individual tasks and their own development.
  • Ability to work independently and also as part of a team
  • An ability to build strong working relationships, both internally and externally, where applicable.
  • A willingness to learn from other members of the team and contribute towards business.
  • Be proactive in your personal development and skills training

The main responsibilities of this role are outlined above; however, this description is not exhaustive, and the job holder may be required to undertake additional duties from time to time to ensure the smooth running of the department. The role may require some working outside our normal working hours of 9:30am- 5:30pm.
