Job Description
About the centre:
Thank you for taking an interest in this teaching post at Outwood Alternative Provision Eston.
Outwood Alternative Provision Eston is an innovative alternative provision centre, principally for students from Outwood Academies in the Northern Region who need additional behavioural, social, emotional or mental health support. In line with our absolute commitment to inclusion in its widest sense, this is an alternative provision for vulnerable students who display challenging behaviours and are often at risk of high levels of fixed-period exclusions or permanent exclusion.
Operating much smaller classes than our mainstream academies, this KS3/4 alternative provision focuses on personal development and the health and well being of students, whilst not losing academic rigour. We will focus on ensuring that all students can achieve well and are able to move to their next stage with confidence, be it education, employment or training.
We are an inclusive, and caring centre judged ‘good’ by Ofsted. At heart, we aim to ensure we best meet the needs of our students. Our centre supports the most vulnerable students including those who have SEND and are disadvantaged. Many of our students experience significant barriers to learning and some have adverse childhood experiences.
About The Role
This general teaching role is an opportunity to make a positive difference for those students who require additional support to access their mainstream schooling and overcome barriers to learning and improved behaviour. Working in close collaboration with a team of Teaching Assistants and Hub Coordinators and the leadership team, you will help deliver a curriculum that supports students, who access our centre, to improve their attendance, behaviour for learning and wellbeing. Supporting them to embrace routines and ultimately become re-engaged in mainstream education.
We would be particularly interested in applicants with experience in the following areas;
Key Stage 2, Key Stage 3, Social Emotional Mental Health (SEMH) and/or Special Educational Needs (SEN).
