As our company grows and develops, we are ever expanding our Teams. We have a great opportunity for a dedicated Laboratory Technician to join our Environment & Safety Division and wear the SOCOTEC badge with pride. You will join our Occupational Hygiene Dust Laboratories which specialises in the testing and analysis of Occupational/Fugitive Dust.

It is key that you are able to work efficiently and independently, as well as working well as part of a wider team. While you may be performing the same array of tests day to day, the projects you undertake will change, creating variety in your day-to-day life.
The tasks you will undertake will include (but are not limited to):
- Media and kit preparation for both fugitive and occupational dust requirements
- Undertake a range of environmental and chemistry analytical activities including preparation of media, filtering of samples, pH, Conductivity and suspended solids recording temperatures and other activities supporting the quality control process.
- Using Gas Chromatography to analyse a range of gas samples.
- Carry out tasks as assigned by Lab Supervisor to ensure that the customer’s samples are received, analysed, and reported in a timely and efficient manner in line with documented procedures.
- Maintain good laboratory practice at all times, following methods, standard operating procedures, local rules and regulations, maintain equipment and safe working procedures
- Be aware of and conform to the laboratory quality system, specifically UKAS (ISO17025) requirements
- Project a professional, courteous image and support the business culture and codes of practice at all times
To be successful in this role, you will be able to demonstrate:
- Good communication at all levels with good organisational skills
- A motivation to learn team-based systems and take ownership of objectives
- Experience of working in a high pressure, production driven environment
- Client focus and a drive for quality

Our Environmental team is made up of many different specialists all operating in within different areas of expertise. The main areas we cover are Environmental Monitoring and Consultancy together with specialist laboratories to support our services. Our services range from onsite monitoring and sample collection, ranging from local businesses to large Government contracts, to consultancy works on large, contaminated land projects, complimented with onsite works for dust, noise, and local exhaust emissions. We pride ourselves in our ability to consult, monitor and test for our clients, supporting all their needs in one place, using our highly trained employees.
