Description
We are looking for a reliable and conscientious Laboratory Technician to join our In Vitro Toxicology team. This role involves supporting day-to-day experiments, carrying out analyses, and recording results in our genetic toxicology studies.

This opportunity is open to applicants at all stages of their career:

  • New to the profession? We’ll provide comprehensive training to help you build your skills.
  • Already experienced? This role offers a steady, hands-on position where your knowledge and practical expertise will be highly valued.

If you are enthusiastic, dependable, and looking to develop or continue your career in science, we would love to hear from you.

Who we are:

Sequani is a contract research organisation based in the beautiful Herefordshire countryside. We conduct regulatory safety testing to help make the world a safer place.

As a Gold Investors in People organisation, we are confident that we can offer a varied role, together with a good range of company benefits and excellent career progression. Our customers frequently complement us on our friendly, professional, and high-quality service and we inject commitment and purpose into everything we do.

Our In Vitro Toxicology team specialises in laboratory tests carried out on mammalian and bacterial cultures grown in controlled conditions. By studying effects on these cultures, the team can detect subtle biological changes and gather important insights into the safety and efficacy of different substances, with a particular focus on genetics.

Role Overview:

This is a practical, lab-based role where you’ll gain valuable experience closely supporting the In Vitro Toxicology team and the studies they perform. This will involve working with bacterial and mammalian cell cultures under aseptic conditions, performing microbiological techniques, and carrying out routine tasks such as reagents preparations and maintaining laboratory stocks, all within a Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) compliant environment.

What you will be doing:

You’ll play a key role in the smooth running of our laboratory, including:

  • Setting up and performing genetic toxicology assays and recording accurate data.
  • Carrying out sterile and aseptic techniques for maintaining bacterial and mammalian cell cultures.
  • Maintaining lab cleanliness, supplies, and equipment (cleaning, calibrations, waste management, reagent preparations).
  • Assisting with the preparation of laboratory work sheets and standard assays.
  • Accurately recording and checking raw data.

What we’re looking for:

The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about biology and bring a reliable, conscientious approach to their work. You should be comfortable working both independently and as part of a close-knit team, with the ability to manage tasks with minimal supervision. This is a practical, hands-on role, so you’ll need to be dextrous, confident in carrying out laboratory procedures, and attentive to detail. A flexible approach is important when supporting a small team, along with strong numeracy and literacy skills to ensure accuracy — especially when performing routine or repetitive tasks.

What we can offer you:

We are a small friendly company with an unrivalled focus on Quality and Customer service. We pride ourselves in offering competitive salaries and benefits. We offer a Health cash plan, including 24hr GP support line. A life insurance policy for 4x your annual salary, as well as local and countrywide corporate gym memberships. We also have an employee discount scheme to cover all your shopping and holiday discounts needs.

If you’re conscientious, enthusiastic, and excited by the idea of contributing to meaningful scientific work, we’d love to hear from you.

We reserve the right to close this vacancy early if we receive a high volume of applications. We encourage you to apply as soon as possible to ensure your application is considered.
