Job Purpose
Lucideon are industry leaders in the testing of construction products and components, with the largest commercial structural testing laboratory in the world, once even housing a two-storey building for testing! The very building you live in, school you went to, shopping centre you’ve visited – their building materials may well have been tested by Lucideon. We make the world a better, safer place for construction workers and ultimately end users.
As a Labourer / Bricklayer, you will be tasked with supporting the Set-Up Team in a variety of ways; from creating standard builds to more unique requirements that have never been built before. No two days are the same and you’ll be utilising your problem-solving and a variety of other skills from bricklaying, plumbing, manual handling and more, all in conjunction with relevant quality and safety standards.
And the best bit? This is all under one roof (no more sunburn, wet boots or frostbite), on one site, during set days and hours (better work/life balance).
Key Responsibilities Include
- Having an understanding of different bonds and basic building techniques
- Building walls within frames, free standing walls, couplets, triplets, lintels
- Ensuring that building is plumb, whether it is straight, flat or vertical
- Preparation of rebar and shuttering for concrete framework
Key Person Requirements
- Physically fit and able to undertake manual labour
- Qualification and/or proven experience in bricklaying in a construction environment
- Ability to work safely and responsibly with respect to other staff, materials and equipment
- Practical problem-solving skills
- Confidence and ability to operate machinery and equipment to required operating and safety standards
- Ability to regularly perform manual handling activities
- Qualifications / suitable experience of using power tools, cutting and grinding equipment and mobile access towers would be an advantage
- Licence to operate lifting / slinging equipment (counter-balance fork lift, pedestrian fork lift, overhead crane) would also be beneficial
