Land Development Officer

Location: Home Based, National (with office hubs in Leeds, Warwick and London)

As a Land Development Officer, you'll work as part of a team supporting the delivery of land rights through the Use of NGET Land Process for third party customers in England and Wales.

You'll be part of a team providing a land rights service for National Grid. This will be in accordance with current legislation and guidance, best practice and procedure, to ensure National Grid adheres to its licence obligations.

In this role you can enjoy our hybrid working from office and home. You'll be flexible to travelling to offices and project sites as required.

Key accountabilities

• Delivery of new land rights – leases/easements/Interface agreement for third party customers.
• Support and work with the Land Development Manager in the disposal of high value freehold disposals or establishing new leases.
• Work with, co-ordinate and manage the supply chain on the disposal of land rights by adhering to the Use of NGET Land Process in a transparent, credible, consistent and economic way.
• Remove constraints to enable new land opportunities and maximise land value, including planning constraints, tenancy matters, and operational equipment. Develop relationships and understand operational needs of the business to mitigate any concerns in relation to disposing of land rights.
• Support land clearance officers to get sites passed through the surplus declaration process by removing blockers and challenging outcomes.
• Ensure adherence to Use of NGET Land Process.
• Engage and build relationships with potential customers, tenants and purchasers.
• Work with connection customers and the Customer Connection Team to enhance their connection journey and make the process of land rights seamless.
• Stakeholder identification and management both internal and external.
• Reporting on projects in terms of programme, risk and finance.
• Develop the ‘UKLP Land and Property’ brand internally and externally.
• Passion for delivering a high quality service, with significant enthusiasm to achieve results in a fast paced, high pressure environment.

About you

• Excellent interpersonal, influencing and communication skills to ensure effective engagement with all relevant stakeholders.
• Experience in working collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams of internal staff and external firms to support delivery (engineering, legal etc.).
• Project management, co-ordination and delivery skills.
• Good communication and organisation skills.
• Experience in producing high quality and detailed information in a clear and accessible way.
• Degree level qualification, or equivalent, in an appropriate discipline.
• Experience in land discussions with third party customers is desirable.
• Chartered Surveyor – Member/Fellow Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors MRICS/FRICS/AssocRICS is desirable.

What you'll get

A competitive salary between £48,000 - £55,000 – dependent on capability.
