Role description:
The Land Referencer (L7) will support the delivery of statutory land referencing services for major infrastructure projects, including Development Consent Orders (DCOs), Compulsory Purchase Orders (CPOs), and Transport and Works Act Orders (TWAOs). Working as part of an integrated team—including GIS specialists and data wranglers—you will be responsible for collecting, interpreting, and maintaining accurate land ownership data, preparing statutory documents, and engaging with affected parties. The role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders and project teams.
Role accountabilities:
- Collect, interpret, and review land ownership and interest data, maintaining accuracy within GIS and database systems.
- Support the production and quality assurance of statutory documents (e.g., books of reference, schedules, order plans, notices).
- Engage with landowners, occupiers, and other affected parties in a professional manner, both remotely and during site visits.
- Record and manage stakeholder interactions using CRM systems, ensuring timely and thorough documentation.
- Collaborate with GIS specialists, data wranglers, and project managers to ensure integrated and high-quality delivery.
- Undertake site visits for door-knocking and posting notices, ensuring statutory requirements are met.
- Support junior team members through technical guidance and peer reviews.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of land referencing methodologies and processes.
- Ensure all activities comply with relevant legislation, Health & Safety requirements, and Arcadis policies.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Degree or equivalent in Geography, Geospatial Science, Planning, Mathematics or a related field.
- Previous experience (typically 2+ years) in land referencing or a related discipline.
- Proficiency in GIS platforms (preferably ArcGIS) and strong IT skills (Microsoft Office).
- Understanding of compulsory purchase legislation and statutory processes (desirable).
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Results-driven, proactive, and adaptable approach to project delivery.
