DP World has an exciting opportunity for a Landside Strategist to join our port in Southampton. The Landside Strategist is responsible for ensuring the Landside Operation is operating to maximise productivity and efficiency within the Terminal while ensuring that both Yard and Marine side requirements are being met.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop a strategy for the landside operation ensuring Operational KPI’s are being achieved
- Work with Yard Department & Vessel Strategist to ensure the overall operation is being balanced and managed
- Ensure the appropriate number of straddles are allocated to the landside operation, in order to meet the demands of road, rail and warehousing
- Work with the engineering department to ensure the required number of assets for operation and maintenance is being released
- Continually monitor, identify and implement changes to the Landside Operations that can further improve operations
- Proactive monitoring of system settings, including VBS, Gate Admin, Zodiac AGS
- Analyse and resolve bottle necks for the landside operation
- Co-Host with the Customer Service team haulier meetings at the terminal
- Manage the rail providers and conduct weekly meeting with Freightliner, Solent Stevedores, GB Rail Freight, including daily and weekly scheduled calls
- Work with the civil engineering team for landside operations
- Manage the Operations Assistant role to ensure customer queries, SSR’s, Lost boxes are being handed in a timely and efficient manner
- Ensure the team are using all available resources in order to maximize efficiency
- Assist the Operations team in the pre-planning of Terminal resources and contract labour to meet customer requirements as required
- Participate in Project management as required (Pre-Gate/Truck Park, Transfer Area Development, Zodiac AGS Phases, Driver ID Card, Driver APP, Rail Cyclamen Scanning, DPWS/ABP Machine Vision, Stack Auditing)
- Ensure that a safe and healthy work environment exists, by adhering to company health safety and environment policies
- In addition to the duties listed above, the jobholder is expected to perform other ad-hoc duties assigned by the Head of Operations from time to time

What You Will Bring
- Needs an in depth understanding of terminal operating system and planning procedures and requires to be able to identify work to be prioritised
- Needs to be proficient in Word and Excel. Also needs a thorough knowledge of the operating and planning procedures to enable them to carry out their duties.
- Needs to work closely with their colleagues to maintain all communication channels are used
- Ability to express clearly, verbal and written instructions.

- Requires organisational skills with attention to detail
