About The Role (External)
About the team..
As a Lead Advanced Timetable Analyst, you will be part of a team that provides expert advice and undertakes advanced timetable development to meet the needs of the industry. The team works closely with regional peers and project teams to identify and enable change to future timetables. We do this by undertaking analysis and providing expert inputs to industry decision making through Event Steering Groups and Development Timetable processes. You will be at the centre of the team and we’re looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual who wants to make a real difference in shaping a rail network ready for the demands of tomorrow.
What does the average day look like?
In this role, you will define, deliver and assure complex timetable analysis that supports critical decision making and integration of future timetables across a region/route, incorporating customer and industry needs in line with relevant contractual obligations. This includes developing solutions for new analysis techniques compliant with existing industry processes in order to deliver analysis to a higher quality, in a shorter timeframe or to give greater insight. It also includes leading analysts and senior analysts in building their knowledge and experience.
Who are we looking for?
Do you have a technical mindset with experience using analytical tools to improve timetable structure and performance? Are you innovative and have experience of looking at new and creative ways of solving technical timetabling problems? Are you able to pass on your knowledge and experience to other members of the Advanced Timetable Team? Able to work as part of a team and support with leading a team? We are looking for someone passionate about using analysis to bring innovative ways of developing the right solution for the timetable, passengers, and freight users.
Essential Criteria
- Experience in the successful delivery of analysis and complex timetable development activities.
- Proven analytical skills, including the identification of recommendations and conclusions with experience of providing analysis to influence industry stakeholders.
- Detailed working knowledge of rail industry planning systems including TPS/ATTUne/RailSys etc.
- Applied knowledge of / experience in the UK rail industry and the planning cycles and processes.
- Experience of coaching and mentoring to build capability using timetable analysis and development tools.
- Proven capability to build and maintain relationships with a wide range of key stakeholders at senior management level.
- Proven excellent communication and interpersonal skills both written and verbal, including experience in report writing, preparing & presenting technical proposals.
- Experience in delivering process improvements.
We Would Also Like, But Not Essential.
- Experience of working on multiple geographic areas/ major programmes or different timescales of the timetable planning process.
- Understanding of railway industry frameworks in relation to future capacity or train service changes.
- Educated to degree standard in an analytical discipline or be able to demonstrate equivalent experience.
- Experience of working in high performing virtual and technical teams.
- Knowledge of the Network Code or equivalent timetable development processes.
