Wood is recruiting a Lead Control and Instrument Engineer to support the Upstream hub in Aberdeen. The role offers hybrid working arrangements.
Please note that this role may require occasional international travel to Dubai, particularly in the initial months.
The Role
The Lead C&I Engineer operates within the FPSO Core Engineering Team, working closely with the project team to ensure seamless delivery. They provide guidance and oversight to Instrument Engineers, managing responsibilities and delegating tasks effectively to maintain control and achieve project objectives.

Responsibilities
- Managing end-to-end project execution and be fully responsible for delivering the FPSO scopes on schedule, on budget, and to the agreed quality
- Act as the primary client and stakeholder contact, managing expectations and coordinating design deliverables to meet critical deadlines
- Ensure project is technically fit for purpose from a C&I perspective and meet the statutory requirements
- Provide expert advice on C&I scopes of work including FDS, specification, system interfaces, field instrumentation, package reviews, BPCS, F&G system and SIS. Review technical feasibility of proposed solutions to engineering problems
- Responsible for ensuring that all C&I engineering scope change is agreed with the project manager prior to implementation through the life of the project
- Anticipate potential problems, solves complex problems through creative thinking and creative use of internal and external resources both inside and outside of discipline expertise
- Work closely with the project planner to agree milestones and monitor progress against them
- Provide engineering support to the estimator and cost controller to develop estimates at project commencement and for any potential scope change
- Facilitate the generation of C&I engineering risks and mitigations for project risk register, (including 3rd part risk registers) and their ongoing management
- Ensure that any 3rd party contractors/vendors adhere to the overall project plan throughout the project lifecycle
- Work in multi-disciplinary teams to ensure the C&I requirements of projects are effectively and technically delivered to meet timeline and budget
- Work with the line management over major technical issues and planning but otherwise, must be capable of operating with minimum supervision. Take ownership of C&I technical queries (TQs) to ensure satisfactory resolution
- Should possess good understanding of basic cybersecurity requirements for operational technology and IEC 62443
- Shall be able to produce technical reports and clearly explain complex technical C&I related issues
- Should possess very good understanding of functional safety standards IEC61508 & IEC61511 with the ability to review FSIA, FSMP, SRS, SIL Calculations and proof tests.
- Ensuring compliance with quality management systems, support non-conformances investigations, and implementing lessons learned

Qualifications/Skills
Essential
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience
- Experience managing FPSO C&I projects within the EPC framework with focus on engineering activities related to ICSS projects, including systems hardware design, software application development, system integration, testing, field instrumentation, and customer acceptance
- Proven experience in planning, prioritising and delivering multiple concurrent projects, from initial scope through to commissioning and close-out
- Experience in FPSO upgrades/replacement of automation and control systems projects
- Strong organisational and planning skills. Track and report on the metrics which indicate discipline progress on the project in relation to a plan
- Familiarity with relevant industry standards and specifications, with the ability to assess and apply relevant technical standards to diverse projects
Desirable
- Chartered Engineer status or working towards with relevant experience
- TUV FS Engineer certificate or equivalent is desirable
