Description

We are looking for an experienced Lead Development Specialist to join a growing IT Development team in Manchester in the Insurance space. This role will suit a highly skilled developer with strong leadership qualities, keen to guide a team in delivering high-quality solutions within the Microsoft technology stack.

As the Lead Developer, you will provide technical expertise, mentor junior developers (including offshore colleagues), and play a key role in designing and delivering enterprise-level applications across a diverse range of projects.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the team in implementing technical solutions using modern development practices.
Define and deliver system designs, contributing to IT roadmaps and transformation initiatives.
Write scalable, testable, and efficient code while setting quality standards for the team.
Conduct code reviews, testing, and defect analysis to ensure robust and reliable solutions.
Collaborate with architecture, infrastructure, and security teams to deliver business requirements.
Research and recommend new tools, frameworks, and approaches to drive innovation.

Provide 2nd and 3rd line technical support where needed.

Mentor and support junior developers to encourage best practice adoption.

Skills & Experience

Minimum of 8–9 years’ relevant development experience.

Strong technical expertise with:

MS SQL Server (T-SQL, stored procedures, functions)
SSIS / ETL tools (Informatica preferred)
Web APIs & SOA
.NET Framework, .NET Core, ASP.NET, MVC
✅ Additional beneficial skills:
SSAS / SSRS
Tableau or Power BI
C# development
SharePoint
Data modelling & real-time data integration
✅ Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
✅ Experience in finance or insurance data models would be an advantage.
