Due to our continued growth we are now recruiting for a Lead Engineer – Fuel Systems to be based at our customers site in Peterborough.
Our Engineering Research and Development department (ER&D) is a fast-growing function within Tata Technologies Limited that is assembled to work on exciting projects globally for multiple customers. It comprises highly specialized engineers across Automotive, Aerospace and Industrial Heavy Machinery.
The Role:
As a Lead Engineer of Fuel Systems you will set up & run the design control to ensure up front input from all relevant areas, providing leadership and technical expertise in your area.
Dimension of function:
Engineering, Research and Development (ER&D is a growing function within Tata Technologies Limited that is assembled to work on projects and programmes for our clients globally. This position takes ownership of a given Module on at least one Project through the full product development cycle. The position will involve team leadership, technical guidance and financial planning.
Key Responsibilities:
· Complete Development process of Fuel System Components for Diesel engines
· Complete Assembly Process Understanding / Knowledge
· Provide Technical inputs to the Project work.
· Design and packaging of Fuel system components
· Lead from Technical front & deliver the specification targets
· Component and system level packaging and concept studies including feasibility
· Work in collaboration with the Project Engineers to identify and specify design activity required
· Component and system design and detailing from prototype to production to internal and external design standards including GD&T
· Be the point of contact for the rest of the design community for day-to-day engineering matters
· Identify opportunities to reduce complexity, cost and weight
· Ensure the design of all components meets the Technical Specifications
· Must ensure the design is weight efficient, weight targets are surpassed, and the weight is documented accurately. This encompasses material selection and innovative design.
· Experience in DFA / DFM
· Experience on 1st Engineering Concepts / Design Concept, attending Design reviews .
· Engineering Release – Meet all defined engineering release dates with all specifications, weight and cost targets achieved, supplier DFM fully concurred, materials & finish defined, all fixings identified & positioned & all outstanding Build Concern Reports are embodied & documented at point of release
· Have On-Site / Off –Site review with required team for Build supply.
· Support for all required builds.
· Preparing RFQ’s / ESOW’s for new components.
· Reviews with Suppliers for Design feasibility, Product development, Build Support, Supply issues.
· ECR / ECN – its approvals, implementation for under development components & running components.
· Coordination with CAE for Fuel System Component
· Testing's – (DVP/PVP) Part Level, Execution / Coordination for Homologation.
· Discussing with PD / Buyer / Supplier for Proto Build supportability.
· BOM updating
Knowledge, skills & experience:
· Excellent CREO PTC skills.
· Leadership and motivation in a design role is essential
· Proven experience of Design activities at OEM/Tier-1 with a demonstrable record of delivery of the accountabilities
· Experience with the following is mandatary
· Experience with the following any one system is mandatary: Fuel systems - Fuel Lines, Fuel Filters or Fuel Tanks
· Mountings of the system, Material selection, Work on NVH targets, CFD, CAE, DVP, DFMEA, RMDV, DFA, DFS, DFA.
· Strong knowledge on plastic moulding process.
· A strong track record of delivering design to timing, weight and cost targets.
· Supplier liaison, comfortable with understanding and implementing DFM requirements within the project scope
· Background in Industrial heavy Machinery (Diesel Gensets) would be preferable.
