We're Hiring: M&E Lead Engineer – Leadership Role in Technical Maintenance

#Mitie are back at it again with another exciting opportunity for a Lead M&E Engineer working across our technical maintenance services with our new client, based in Croydon.

Are you an experienced and enthusiastic Lead M&E Engineer with a strong track record in supervising and managing technical teams? Join our dynamic team now and play an integral role in maintaining and improving a diverse portfolio of commercial buildings. With a contract spanning the next 10 years, this role offers fantastic job security as well as stellar progression opportunities.

What You'll Be Doing

Lead and coordinate a skilled engineering team to deliver planned, reactive, and ad hoc maintenance.
Ensure zero disruption to critical building systems through proactive monitoring and fault resolution.
Maintain HV/LV electrical and mechanical services across multiple sites.
Manage compliance, safety, and certification standards.
Liaise with contractors, suppliers, and operational teams to ensure smooth service delivery.
Respond to emergency breakdowns and ensure business continuity.

What You’ll Need

3-5 years' supervisory or management experience in Building Services or Facilities Management.
Strong understanding of statutory compliance, SFG20, and health & safety regulations.
Excellent communication and leadership skills.
IT literate – confident with Maximo and Microsoft Office.
Ability to manage RAMS, permits, and safe systems of work.

Qualifications

NVQ Level 3 in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS7671:2018).
IOSH Managing Safely certification.
HV Authorised Person training.
Legionella Responsible Person (ACoP L8).
Desirable: City & Guilds 2391, Asbestos Responsible Person, SC/DV Clearance.
