Lead Pharmacy Technician in Automation and Systems Management to join our dedicated pharmacy team at
Frimley Park Hospital for a 12-month maternity cover.
You’ll Work Closely With Your Counterpart At Wexham Park Hospital, Providing Leadership And Specialist Technical Expertise For Our Pharmacy Systems, Including
- Omnicell Automated Dispensing Cabinets (ADCs)
- Pharmacy Robots
- Epic electronic health record system
- WellSky Pharmacy
- Other integrated medicines management solutions
What You’ll Do
- Take operational ownership of pharmacy IT systems at Frimley Park Hospital
- Lead system maintenance, troubleshooting, upgrades, and optimisation
- Ensure safe, accurate, and efficient medicines management workflows
- Liaise with suppliers, Trust IT, pharmacy colleagues, and other stakeholders
- Support implementation of new digital solutions and system improvements
- Provide training and guidance to pharmacy staff in effective system use
What We’re Looking For
- A qualified pharmacy technician registered with the GPhC
- Excellent problem-solving, organisational, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across sites
- Previous experience with Omnicell, Epic, WellSky, or robotics desirable
Main duties of the job
The postholder will be responsible for the management of automated systems including Omnicell robotic dispensing systems and automated drug cabinets and develop IT services in accordance with National, Departmental and Trust objectives.
The postholder will be the pharmacy point of contact regarding pharmacy systems and maintains communication with Trust departments including clinical and digital, as well as external suppliers.
The postholder will support the oversight and Information Governance for the following pharmacy systems:
- JAC/Wellsky
- EPIC (Willow) and Hyperspace
- Omnicell ADCs
- Omnicell robots

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Registered with GPhC
- BTEC in Pharmaceutical Science and NVQ3 or qualification in IT or equivalent
Desirable criteria
- Recognised Accredited Checking qualification
- Recognised practice supervision / E&T qualification
- NVQ in Pharmaceutical Services A1 or V1 qualification
- Medicines Management Qualification
Experience
Essential criteria
- Wide experience of the use of the JAC/Wellsky Pharmacy Computer System, preferably at system management level
- Knowledge of Omnicell Robots and automated dispensing cabinets (ideally to system administrator level)
- Evidence of up to date CPD
Desirable criteria
- Experience with the Epic EPR system
- Working knowledge of networks, servers and other forms of IT communication
Skills and Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Clear communication in English both verbal and written
- Able to complete projects to tight deadlines
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with a wide range of customers, from patient to hospital consultant.
Desirable criteria
- Ability to identify and manage risk
