Role Overview
As our first in-house Product Designer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the user experience of our product as we transform how businesses in Africa make international payments. Working at the intersection of fintech and emerging markets, you'll be responsible for both hands-on design work and strategic initiatives that define our design direction.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end design process for our product, from research and ideation to implementation
- Develop and maintain our design system and component library to ensure consistency across our platform
- Work closely with product, engineering, and research teams to understand user needs and translate them into intuitive solutions
- Create user flows, wireframes, and high-fidelity designs that balance user needs with business requirements
- Conduct research alongside our user research team to validate design decisions
Requirements
- Extensive product design experience in a high-performing environment
- Deep expertise of modern design tools and software, such as Figma or similar.
- Experience in early stage start-ups
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Strong experience in designing complex B2B products
- Track record of building products from first principles; you’ll have worked somewhere that was building something new, based on new user research
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills; strong ability to articulate design decisions
- Willingness to travel occasionally to meet with customers in our markets
