Description
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Lead Production Design Engineer to join our business as we continue to scale.
We are seeking a Lead Production Design Engineer with a strong background in production process development and a solid understanding of design engineering to help scale our manufacturing operations.
In this role, you'll be responsible for designing, developing, and optimising production processes to enable high-quality, cost-effective, and scalable manufacturing. You’ll work closely with design engineers to continuously improve processes across the product lifecycle.

You'll Spend Your Time
- Applying various engineering methods to assist in creating new products and delivering products on time
- Lead the definition, design, and implementation of end-to-end production processes for new and existing products
- Performing DFx reviews on new products and designs to ensure manufacturability
- Liaising with other design/manufacturing engineers and departments to maintain superior levels of quality and efficient production
- Generating and maintain manufacturing support documentation such as build and work instructions, maintenance and test procedures
- Generating BoM’s and manufacturing BoM’s to ensure a modular build structure and optimise the throughput in production
- Develop and document standard operating procedures (SOPs), build instructions, process flow diagrams, and control plans
- Translate product design requirements into robust and efficient manufacturing processes using DFM/DFA best practices
- Partner with design engineering teams to influence product designs for manufacturability and scalability
- Participate in design reviews, offering process-driven insights and identifying potential manufacturing challenges early
- Apply lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma tools to improve throughput, reduce cost, and enhance quality
The Key Experience We're Looking For
- Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or a related field
- Significant experience in production/process engineering, ideally in a low-to-medium volume manufacturing environment
- Strong understanding of design engineering principles and DFM/DFA methodology
- Proven ability to develop, document, and optimise production processes from concept through to scale-up
- Hands-on experience with CAD tools and familiarity with interpreting engineering drawings
- Proficient in lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies
The Following Would Be Advantageous
- Use of PTC Windchill, or similar engineering management tools
