FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Lead Analyst in Systems Change Requests and Defect Management to work for our client within the insurance sector. This is initially a 6 month contract with the potential to extend and will be a hybrid role that will be based in London, Telford or Edinburgh.
Our client is seeking highly skilled Lead Analyst to take ownership of complex system issues and drive their resolution with minimal disruption to business operations. This role is central to ensuring system stability, performance, and continuous improvement across legacy and modern platforms. You'll be working closely with cross-functional teams including business stakeholders, IT, and third-party vendors to manage and prioritise change requests and defects.
Responsibilities
- Lead the analysis and resolution of complex system issues, ensuring minimal disruption to critical business functions.
- Manage and prioritise system change requests and defects, collaborating with cross-functional and third-party teams
- Conduct thorough root cause analysis, delivering actionable insights to enhance system performance and reliability
- Translate technical findings into clear, business-friendly language for non-technical stakeholders
- Review system logs, code artifacts, and technical documentation with precision and attention to detail
- Support and implement continuous improvement initiatives leveraging structured methodologies such as ITIL, Lean Six Sigma, or hybrid Agile/Waterfall frameworks
- Facilitate effective communication and collaboration between IT, business users, and external vendors to accelerate resolution and innovation
Requirements
- Minimum 7 years' experience in business or systems analysis roles, preferably within legacy environments and complex system architectures
- Strong analytical and root cause analysis skills with a proven track record in resolving high-impact system issues
- Exposure to structured improvement methodologies such as ITIL, Lean Six Sigma (Green Belt or above preferred), Agile, and Waterfall
- Experience working with mainframe technologies (COBOL knowledge is a plus)
- Familiarity with fund management or box management business processes is advantageous
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical issues into language easily understood by business users
- High attention to detail in reviewing logs, system data, and code documentation
- Strong collaboration and stakeholder engagement skills across IT, business, and vendor teams
- Proficiency in Microsoft tools, especially Excel, for defect and issue tracking and reporting
