As the Leasehold Surveyor for Hackney Council’s Homeownership Department, you will be leading on providing advice and managing a variety of matters relating to leasehold and freehold properties on our estates. This includes, but is not limited to, handling complex alterations applications, boundary disputes, producing various plans and ensuring compliance with lease agreements and corporate policy. You will play a crucial role in maintaining positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders and delivering solutions that align with the best interests of the Council and its portfolio of nearly 10,000 homeowners.
In this role, you will be responsible for evaluating and processing complex alterations applications, providing expert advice on leasehold matters to internal and external stakeholders, and collaborating effectively with various internal departments. You will also maintain comprehensive documentation for all leasehold activities, contribute to the continuous improvement of departmental processes, and lead, mentor, and develop a team of two Surveying Technicians.
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Leasehold Surveyor with a strong understanding of leasehold law and property management. The ideal candidate will possess in-depth knowledge and experience of surveying matters relating to leases and transfer of part documents and/or suitable RICS or CIRB qualifications, proven ability to interpret complex scenarios and propose effective solutions, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, exceptional organisational and time management abilities, a keen eye for detail and a commitment to providing excellent customer service. An understanding of health and safety and fire safety considerations in property management is essential together with demonstrated leadership skills, experience in performance monitoring and development of hybrid teams.
