Join our Inclusive Learning team at Middlesbrough College and make a real difference! We’re looking for a passionate educator to work with students across our Vocational Steps and Preparing for Adulthood (SEN) provision. In this role, you’ll plan and deliver a diverse range of challenging and meaningful learning and work experiences, helping learners develop the skills, knowledge, behaviours, and attitudes they need for success in life, learning, and work in the 21st century.

Situated on our main campus and integrated into our general FE population the department compromises of four specialist pathways:

• 16-18 ESOL for learning with language as a primary need

Deliver vocational pathways for learners who need additional time and support to strengthen their core English and Maths skills, while fostering positive learning behaviours.

Preparation for Adulthood our specialist SEND pathway

Supported Internship which acts as an exit route for learners with Education Health and Care Plans into the world of work

We are particularly interested in speaking to candidates who have particular vocational backgrounds and skills along with those who are able to teach a functional skill and/or GCSE English and Maths.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Lecturer in Inclusive Learning, you will:

• Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of all students.
• Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and is developmentally appropriate to the maturity and interests of all students.
• Employ a variety of teaching techniques and resources consistent with best practices, specific content knowledge, the physical limitations of the space provided, and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
• Plan and deliver a suitable Assessment Programme ensuring marked work meets Middlesbrough College Gold Standards.

Implement Middlesbrough College’s Core Values through the Gold Standard of Teaching and Learning.

Utilise diagnostic assessment tools to identify learning strengths and needs of every student, on a regular basis, for the purpose of intervention and/or acceleration toward academic achievement.

Participate in Interval Verification requirements including the preparation for Awarding Body visits.

Take necessary and reasonable precautions to assure safety in the classroom and the College for all students.

What We’re Looking For

We seek candidates who:

• Are a qualified teacher or willing to work towards a PGCE or equivalent.**
• Hold a qualification at Level 3 or above in English and Maths, or equivalent.
• Possess relevant vocational qualifications in a specific field.
• Have current knowledge and/or experience in NEET Provision and/or SEN. Have prior experience working in a general FE College in a teaching role.
• Ideally have current knowledge and/or experience of teaching vocational skills, along with GCSE/functional skills in English and Maths.

• The Lecturer Salary Scale is from Pt 5 – Pt 16. The salary progression criteria beyond point 11 of the Lecturer scale will be based on you achieving and maintaining, on an annual basis, the Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) & QTS.  To progress beyond point 14 of the Lecturer salary scale, you will be expected to achieve and maintain the Advanced Teacher Status (ATS).
