Turning Passion into Purpose. We are advertising for a lecturer to teach on our town planning undergraduate and postgraduate degrees. London South Bank University has taught accredited Town Planning degrees for 50 years. Our research culture focuses on links between research and practice.
The successful candidate will have a good understanding of current practice and policy in planning, and a background in the profession and the academy, with a research profile. They should have chartered membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) and adequate experience of working in a university environment, understanding planning module and course delivery. We are looking for expertise in one or more of the following areas: urban design; planning law; professional practice and work-based learning; environmental planning; development viability and valuation.
The successful candidate will offer module/& course leadership, actively produce interdisciplinary research and innovation projects related to their area of expertise, and apply for national and international research funding whenever possible. The candidate will work collaboratively with the RTPI and Planning apprentice employers, offer personal tutoring to students, and engage in administrative work, attending Exam boards and meetings as required.
About You:
We are looking for a candidate with a PhD and/or Planning Qualification and RTPI membership with skills/experience in:
- Teaching experience at degree level and at postgraduate level Planning courses.
- Specialised research outputs in one of the following areas: urban design; planning law; professional practice and work-based learning; environmental planning; development viability and valuation with evidence of research outputs.
- Evidence of a supportive pedagogical approach; effective communication.
- Ability to contribute to Academic Management (Module and Course) with a proven record.
- Ability to work as a team member, supporting each student’s personal and professional development.
This is a fixed-term post for 1 year.
