We’re looking for a Legal & Procurement Lead who wants more than a job, you will have the opportunity to truly shape this role and make it your own. You will act as the primary legal advisor. Your expertise will directly influence project delivery, risk management, and the strategic direction of our business. You will work closely with Directors and Project Teams to ensure legal compliance, negotiate contracts, manage risk, and contribute to fee strategy and procurement - all while enjoying the autonomy to lead on legal matters with the support of a friendly, highly collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

Contract Management: Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, including RIBA appointments, NDAs, RFPs, RFQs, Reliance Letters, and JCT contracts. Prepare bespoke forms as required.

Insurance & Risk: Lead PI policy renewals, manage claims, due diligence process and ensure robust risk management practices. Ensure proper risk management, including setting up early claim notifications & meetings. Co-ordinating annual submissions for R&D tax claims, collating claim details and supporting data with the project teams, ensuring compliance, maximising benefits, and mitigating risks.

Compliance: Stay ahead of legislative changes (e.g., Building Safety Act) and integrate them into company policies.

Intellectual Property: Oversee trademarks, copyright licences, and external licence arrangements. Review and liaise with our lawyer and specialist IP lawyers on company requirements (e.g. Code Cards). Facilitate understanding of PPL and MPLC or other external licence arrangements.

Projects & Disputes: Provide legal advice on project delivery, resolve disputes, and manage debt recovery.

Projects & Fees: Provide legal and commercial advice on the project delivery, attend board meetings to provide strategic legal input. Prepare materials and documentation for R&D tax claims, maintain house costing reviews and database, facilitate tender and competition entries, assist with Fee Proposals.

Facilities: Handle property leases and service contracts for office operations.

Key Skills

  • Qualified Solicitor or equivalent legal professional.
  • 5+ years of experience in legal roles, preferably within the architectural or construction industry.
  • Strong experience in construction law, JCT, and RIBA appointments.
  • Excellent communication skills, with confidence in advising stakeholders at all levels.
  • Attention to detail and a practical, solutions-focused mindset.
  • A collaborative, hands-on approach and the ability to work independently.
