Moore Barlow is currently seeking a Legal Assistant to join our Medical Negligence Team based in Southampton. Our modern offices are open plan and boast a subsidised-on site restaurant/coffee shop - this is a great space to meet colleagues for lunch or meet more informally with colleagues and Clients alike.

Day–to–day
Our Legal Assistants play a crucial role in helping our lawyers achieve the best possible outcomes for their clients. The role involves a mix of administrative and 'secretarial duties' and provides the critical support to our teams in order to deliver great Client outcomes. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual to work as part of a team with an outstanding reputation in the serious injury sector.
Duties
Working alongside a very experienced and supportive Legal support team, you will provide direct support to lawyers across the team, handling a mixture of duties, including:
- Initial advice and guidance to new clients by phone or email.
- Acting as a point of contact and team liaison throughout the course of a matter, ensuring Clients receive the excellent care that our team is known for.
- File opening and closure (and associated due diligence such as AML compliance)
- Supporting the credit control process by creating bills and paying invoices.
- Administrative tasks such as:
- Creating digital and off-line bundles,
- Typing from dictation
- Collating medical records.
About You
First and foremost, we are a welcoming team who look for the same. Therefore, you will ideally be an individual who is open, flexible, and excited about learning new things.
Perhaps you are a law graduate looking to kick-start your career with your first legal support role, or an experienced administrator who is seeking a brand-new challenge. Either way, you should have a passion for excellent client-service and naturally take an organised and efficient approach to your work.
Whilst some prior legal or admin experience would be great, we are keen to hear from those who have related work or study experience and can demonstrate an interest in this line of work.
