More About The Court Of Protection Team
Our specialist Court of Protection Team are experts in providing tailored legal advice and support to individuals who have diminished mental capacity, often as a result of a traumatic brain injury.
Our team pride themselves on their empathetic client-centric approach, ensuring their client's best interests are protected while they provide guidance relating to deputyship applications, statutory wills, and property & affairs management.
Day To Day
As a Legal Assistant, you will play a crucial role by providing support to our specialist lawyers on a wide range of tasks, ensuring they are able to work at optimum efficiency and deliver the best service possible to our clients, many of whom are vulnerable individuals.
- You will support the Court of Protection Team with a broad range of administrative tasks, including the drafting and preparation of certain documents, filing, and general assistance to the team as necessary.
- You will take the lead on the administration and organising of the team’s cost claims every year; a very important task that outlines the team’s costs for submission to the senior courts costs office.
- You will assist with arranging appointments, as well as other internal and external meetings.
- You will be responsible for accurate photocopying and scanning, as well as the management of incoming and outgoing post.
- You will handle telephone enquiries, ensuring accurate details are taken and passed on to the relevant lawyer for follow up.
- You will help to manage the lawyers’ diaries by ensuring important information is added, including meetings and deadlines.
What We Look For
- We estimate that this position will suit an individual at the earlier stages of their career, such as a graduate or college leaver (law studies not a requirement).
- You will be calm under pressure, adopt a naturally proactive approach to your work, and have the ability to provide support to numerous colleagues across the team.
- You will be highly numerate, understand the importance of accuracy and comfortable working with budgets and accounts.
- You will be naturally caring, empathetic, and confident in engaging with very vulnerable individuals and their families who are often facing extremely difficult circumstances.
- You will be confident in building relationships within and outside of your immediate team, and working collaboratively to achieve the best possible outcomes for our clients.
- We are human-first in everything we do and seek people who share this trait. You will therefore have great communication skills, a passion for helping clients achieve their goals and the ability to think creatively.
If you have the required skills and experience and are keen to advance your career as part of our specialist Court of Protection Team, then we strongly encourage you to apply.
