Legal Cashier

It starts with our people, which is why we need a Legal Cashier to join our team within our existing cashier team. BCLP handle a very large client account function. The Legal Cashier team is primarily responsible for ensuring the firms compliance with SAR whilst helping protect the firm and its clients from money laundering and fraud. The team is responsible for all client/trust payments as well as professional disbursements across EMEA & Asia, managing automated receipting and payment processes as well as global bank reconciliations.

You’ll be responsible for:

• Processing, reconciling and payment of professional disbursements in line with local regulations
• Trust account receipts and payments
• Allocation of all incoming office receipts in multi-currency, reconciling exchange differences and small balance write offs
• Processing and reviewing the transfer of funds on and off of appropriate suspense accounts
• Residual balance investigations
• Project work as set by your Manager to include negative costs, out of date cheques, SRA and audit related activity

Skills and experience required

• It is essential that the candidate has an extensive and up to date knowledge of the Solicitors Accounts Rules
• A solid understanding of 3E is highly desirable
• Experience or understanding of automated cost systems (especially Chrome River/Emburse Expense) is preferred.
• Knowledge of all Microsoft products is required
• A legal cashiering qualification (either obtained or with the intention to obtain) is beneficial. Accounting qualifications to AAT level or similar are an advantage but not essential
