Our client a market-leading Central London law firm are currently expanding their cashiering and are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Legal Cashier on a FTC or permanent basis. Day-to-day of the role:
- Ensure compliance with the Solicitors Accounts Rules (SAR), VAT, HMRC, and money laundering regulations.
- Observe the firm’s internal policies at all times.
- Complete posting and filing accurately and promptly.
- Handle transactions including faster payments, BACS, CHAPS, and cheque processing.
- Manage client to office and client to client transfers.
- Allocate office account receipts to settle bills.
- Monitor transactional accounts via Barclays online banking system (Dotnet), managing incoming funds efficiently.
- Key electronic payments on Dotnet, including BACS, CHAPS, and international payments.
- Liaise with bank contacts to ensure smooth transaction processing.
- Assist in resolving accounting queries and support colleagues with general enquiries and routine work.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Strong GCSEs and A-levels, particularly in Maths and English.
- At least 12 months of experience in a busy law firm handling client transactions.
- Experience with CMS (Aderant Expert) and Barclays Internet Banking (BIB)/Dotnet is highly advantageous.
- Excellent numeracy, communication, and time management skills.
- Ability to work under pressure with meticulous attention to detail.
- Capable of working well within a team environment with limited supervision.
- An ILCA / ILFM qualification is advantageous but not essential.
