About The Role
We are looking for a legal counsel to join our friendly and collaborative UK & Ireland legal team, which is currently comprised of 2 legal counsel and a paralegal, led by Head of Legal. The legal team provides legal support to the Projects business and teams across wind, solar PV and battery storage in the UK and Ireland, and during the full project lifecycle. The legal team also plays a core role in acquisition and sale transactions, partnership arrangements and project financing.
This role will be based in one of our offices in Edinburgh, Glasgow, or Cork with occasional travel to the other offices. Our business operates a hybrid working model to promote collaboration and knowledge sharing, whilst enabling flexibility, with 60% of our time office-based.

What You’ll Do
- Providing legal support to project managers, developers and construction managers in relation to onshore wind, solar PV and battery storage projects across the UK and Ireland;
- Driving legal matters relating to all aspects of project development and delivery, including due diligence, acquisition, land, construction, route to market, project financing, project sales and regulatory, corporate and commercial matters;
- Identifying the need for legal and commercial input and support across the business and supporting as required in risk management, contract drafting/negotiation and contract implementation;
- Developing and implementing core processes and systems to enable efficient contracting processes and contract management;
- Procuring, managing, and reviewing legal advice provided by external law firms.
What You’ll Need To Succeed
- You will be a qualified solicitor in Scotland, England & Wales, or Ireland with at least 2 years PQE
- You will have experience in real estate, planning, corporate, project finance, regulatory, construction or projects practice areas;
- Previous experience of working on renewable energy projects is preferred but not essential;
- Excellent attention to detail, with strong written and oral communication skills;
- Shows a keen understanding of the company's needs and seeks to tailor advice appropriately;
- Commercially aware;
- Takes responsibility for leading on legal aspects of transactions and delivery of projects;
- Self-motivated and driven;
- Works well as part of a team;
- Naturally well prepared and organised, able to deal with competing priorities to meet deadlines;
- Right to work in the UK or Ireland (as appropriate).
