The Team
The Global eCommerce Legal BP team, consists of members from different countries, supporting eCommerce globally with a focus on online product features and data privacy compliance.
The Role
We are seeking a lawyer to join the team as our major presence in the UK and EU continues to grow. This role will primarily be responsible for the compliance work in the EU, such as DSA, DMA, GDPR, and compliance with all directives and national laws, as well as global views of features update, data and AIGC compliance, new-country launches, etc.
Responsibilities
- Act as the primary legal POC to support business clients, by participating directly in discussions with business teams, collaborating with all other stakeholders such as regulatory /privacy /IP /competition legal teams.
- Providing business clients with consolidated legal opinions and solutions.
- Specifically, cover the DACH Region, and other East/North EU countries (also cover the UK temporarily).
- Review business initiatives (product features, data and algo requests, etc.) from EU and national law perspectives.
- Collaborate with different stakeholders to ensure compliance and provide quick feedback.
- Driving process improvements, template development, and internal training initiatives to enhance legal workflows and mitigate risk.
- Partnering closely with local and international stakeholders across e-commerce, privacy, and public policy teams to navigate complex legal challenges and deliver projects under tight timelines.
- Maintain all online terms in local languages.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Licensed or qualified in UK and/or DE
- Senior lawyer with substantial experience in areas such as consumer protection, privacy, anti-trust and IP, with years in top law firms or multinational companies.
- Significant experience in drafting and negotiating agreements across the retail, creative, and advertising industries.
- Strong documentation, presentation, and communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex legal concepts for business stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently on multiple projects in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experienced in EU legislation and national laws.
- Prior experience in the eCommerce industry.
- A strong understanding of the evolving European regulatory landscape as it pertains to digital commerce and online marketplaces.
